Fred Stephen Yokum

Savannah- Fred Stephen Yokum died peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.
Fred was born on Isle of Hope on June 8, 1932 where he lived his entire life except when he served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953. He was a long time member of the Electrical Workers Union, Local Chapter 508, a Communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a volunteer with the Isle of Hope Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Annie Wells Yokum and brother, Jack Yokum.
Fred is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Yokum; daughter, Cynthia Secrist; step-son, Wayne Hutsell Lisa; grandchildren, Jonathon Secrist, Danielle Secrist, Heather Collins, and Brandi Hutsell.
Fred showed his love to family and friends by sharing his amazing cooking and his keen sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery.
